new puppy

So, we are training our puppy…and today we get an e-mail from our puppy’s teacher about a golden-doodle rescue, 18 month old girl needing adoption, name:  Lucy.
What made her think we could take care of another dog, when our Abby girl is way more than we can handle I will never know, but the fact [...]

distracted

I hit a car today.
I wasn’t going fast, but still…
A little Hispanic man got out the car, he stared at his bumper, that was fine (thank GOD), then asked me if I was sleeping.  In my defense the light had turned green and both cars on either side of me moved forward, I did too, [...]

my matthew

my Matthew is my artist, he lives in a world all of his own filled with imagination and passion.  He creates stories and songs  and swirls through the house in a fierce battle as a jedi knight destroying evil in the universe.  Whatever he is doing consumes him and it can be hard to get [...]

mental health day

When I was younger my mom would let me stay home from school and we called it a mental health day.  It was usually after a really big project or test or game and it was a day to recoup and unwind.   I got to sleep in, she usually took me out to breakfast, and [...]

more alarm clock woes…

a word of advice:
don’t turn off, set back, or unplug your spouse’s alarm clock.  Somehow, on Thursday night, my husband Chip thought that I must have made a mistake when setting my alarm clock, trying to be nice, he moved it back by an hour…not so helpful.
Trust that your spouses knows what they have to [...]

coach?

We have a rule in our house, one activity per child- oh, they can try as many things as they want, only one at a time.  This is perhaps to manage the chaos I wrote of earlier, and also because I think it’s important for them to learn they they can’t do EVERYthing.  So far [...]

I had to take my boys to the doctor last week, they needed their annual check-up and vacenation for school. I had waited till the last minute, one more day and they would have been refused entrance to class-but we made it! Sitting there in the waiting room I smiled cordually to other [...]
